I am honored to have one of my patterns published by Bad Sheep Yarn! The Marled Alaska Cowl is LIVE now and its FREE!
This cowl is super special to me because it was a collaborative design between myself and my dear friend Kathleen. When Kathleen saw a super special skein of Bad Sheep Yarn Basic Sock, she knew she simply must make a cowl for her husband. It was helpful that her bestie was a knitwear designer! Kathleen and I worked together to bring her vision to reality. Because that skein of Bad Sheep Yarn started it all, and because Kathleen and I have our roots in Alaska, writing a pattern up for the Alaska Collection by Bad Sheep Yarn seemed to be the only reasonable thing to do!
Marled Alaska is a tapered cowl, knit in the round and inside out. Yup! Inside out- though many prefer to outside in - so this could be called a reversible cowl. By holding two strands of fingering weight yarn together, a squishy DK weight marled fabric is created. It's a great way to use that super special skein of fingering we brought home and snuggled in our stash long ago, or perhaps the one that is begging to come home with us now.
AND!!! - aside from a free pattern dropping, this is the best part 🤸♂️ - just in case there is a super special skein of Basic Sock on Bad Sheep Yarn's website begging to come home with you, Marcie gave me a discount code to share with you to use before December 12! It will take 20% off of Basic Sock excluding sale items. Use the code MARLEDALASKACOWL and grab you some before Marci announces the live pattern to the world because stock is limited! You are welcome for this little head start 😘
Shown below are the 2019 Alaska Collection (including the colorway Sockeye Salmon that I used for my Marled Alaska Cowl shown on the far left) and the 2020 Alaska Collection from Bad Sheep Yarn.
If you want to be super supportive and show your appreciation for not only a yarn discount but a FREE PATTERN, heart this post! Go to the Ravelry Pattern Page for the Marled Alaska Cowl and heart that pattern! Add it to your queue and then run to Bad Sheep Yarn's website and down load your copy! They work up so fast, there is plenty of time for Mid Winter Gift Knitting!
